First Friday Veneration of the True Cross

When: Every First Friday of the Month
Time: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM
Where: Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption
1140 Madison Avenue, Covington, Ky.

Join us at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption for the Cathedral Parish's Veneration of the True Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Confession is also offered at the same time as the Veneration for any wishing to receive the Sacrament. A blessing of the congregation with the relic of the True Cross concludes the hour along with an opportunity to come forward and individually venerate the relic of the True Cross of Jesus Christ.

The Veneration is sponsored and conducted by the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre.

  • Friday, March 6 - First Friday Veneration of the True Cross, 12:00 – 1:00 PM, Cathedral Basilica. The public is invited.    
  • Saturday, March 7 – Lenten Day of Reflection, 10 AM to 2:30 PM, Mary Seat of Wisdom Chapel, TMU. Our annual one-day mini-retreat in spiritual preparation for the discipline of Lent. Theme of conferences: “Blessed are the Peacemakers” presented by Rev. Msgr. Gerald E. Twaddell, KCHS. There will be Rosary, Confessions & Holy Mass. The public is invited.
  • Tuesday, March 31 – Chrism Mass, 7:00 PM, Cathedral Basilica.
  • NO First Friday Veneration in April due to Good Friday falling on that date.
  • Saturday, April 4 (after Easter Vigil Mass) thru Saturday, April 11, 2:00 pm – Shroud of Turin Display at the Cathedral Basilica. The public is invited.
  • Friday, May 1 - First Friday Veneration of the True Cross, 12:00 – 1:00 PM, Cathedral Basilica. The public is invited.
  • Sunday, June 7: Corpus Christi Procession, 2:00 PM, Cathedral Basilica.
  • Sunday, June 7: Squires Fellowship Dinner, Triple Crown Country Club. Private, members of the Order only.
  • Friday, July 3: First Friday Veneration of the True Cross, 12:00 – 1:00 PM, Cathedral Basilica. The public is invited.
  • Friday, August 7: First Friday Veneration of the True Cross, 12:00 – 1:00 PM, Cathedral Basilica. The public is invited.
